Sudoku is a printed puzzle at heart, and these pages are made for the pencil: the grid is 6.5 inches across, the numbers are big and the lines around each box are heavy. There are two sets, both at the Easy level and each with twenty puzzles. One is the classic nine by nine grid; the other is the gentle six by six Mini, which is a kind first step. Every puzzle has exactly one solution, so you never need to guess.
Each set downloads as a full PDF with the solutions in a section at the end, where the numbers you add are shaded, or as a puzzles-only file. They are free to print for yourself or a group. This is a printable set of twenty classic 9 by 9 Sudoku puzzles at the Easy level, the same level that is free every day on the site. Every puzzle has between 40 and 46 of its 81 squares already filled, so there is always a square where only one number fits. Each one has exactly one solution, checked by a program, so you never have to guess. The level is gentle enough for a beginner and relaxing for an old hand.
The grid is as large as the page allows, 6.5 inches across, with 34 point numbers and heavy lines around each three by three box so the boxes are easy to see. One puzzle fills one page, with a short reminder of the rules at the top and the number of given squares at the bottom. There is plenty of room to write each digit large in pencil.
The full PDF has twenty puzzles and then an Answers section of five pages, four grids to a page, in which the numbers you add are shaded so you can check your work quickly. A puzzles-only file leaves the answers out. They are the first twenty puzzles of the Easy Classic series on the site, in the same order. The grid is not a trademark and every puzzle was made by our own generator.

Mini Sudoku is Sudoku made smaller and kinder. The grid is six squares across and six down, you use the numbers 1 to 6, and each box is two squares tall and three wide. It is a good place to begin if the full nine by nine grid looks like too much, and a quick, relaxing puzzle for anyone who wants a short break. This set has twenty Easy puzzles, each with 21 to 24 of its 36 squares already filled.
Because there are fewer squares, they can be bigger. The grid is 6.5 inches across, each square is more than an inch wide and the numbers are 44 point, which is easy to read and easy to write in. Every puzzle has exactly one solution, checked by a program, and at this level there is always a square where just one number fits, so you never need to guess.
The full PDF contains the twenty puzzles followed by an Answers section, four grids to a page, in which the numbers you add are shaded. A puzzles-only file is included for groups. How to print these puzzles
- Open the PDF (or save it) and choose Print. The pages are US Letter, 8.5 by 11 inches.
- On A4 paper, or if a margin is cut off, choose “Fit to page” (or “Fit”). Otherwise choose “Actual size” or 100 percent, which keeps the type at its full large size.
- Choose black and white or grayscale. The puzzles need no color, and it saves ink.
- Print one page per sheet. “Multiple pages per sheet” makes the letters small again.
- To print only the puzzles, print the puzzles-only file, or in the full file print just the pages before the section called Answers.

- Do the PDFs include answers?
- Each set comes in two files. The full PDF has the puzzles first and then a section titled Answers. The puzzles-only file has no answers, which is useful for handing out to a group.
- Can I print them at home?
- Yes. They are US Letter pages in black and white, so any home printer will do. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” when you print.
- What level are they?
- Easy only, with the large print that makes them comfortable to read. The Medium and Hard levels will be on screen for members.
