About this set

If you like to watch things grow, these ten word searches are for you. They are the first ten puzzles of the Easy Nature and Gardening series on the site, set in large print for the printer. The words come from the flower bed, the vegetable patch and the woods: CROCUS, FENNEL, BASIL, TOMATO, TROWEL, CARROT, CLOVER, SPRUCE, RADISH, WALNUT and CHIVES, as well as birds and animals like the ROBIN, the TURTLE and the BEAVER.

Each page has an eight by eight grid and six words to find. They run only left to right or top to bottom at this level, so there are no backwards words to puzzle over. Grid letters are 36 point and the list is 24 point, and the tick boxes beside the words keep track of what is left. The ten pages draw on different mixes of words, so a garden club or a sunny-room group can each have their own page.

Answers are collected in a section at the back of the full PDF, with the hidden words shaded, and a puzzles-only file leaves them out. If you enjoy the theme, the same words and many other puzzles can be played on screen, where Easy is free every day with no account.

How to print these puzzles

Open the PDF (or save it) and choose Print. The pages are US Letter, 8.5 by 11 inches.
On A4 paper, or if a margin is cut off, choose “Fit to page” (or “Fit”). Otherwise choose “Actual size” or 100 percent, which keeps the type at its full large size.
Choose black and white or grayscale. The puzzles need no color, and it saves ink.
Print one page per sheet. “Multiple pages per sheet” makes the letters small again.
To print only the puzzles, print the puzzles-only file, or in the full file print just the pages before the section called Answers.
