How to play Honeycomb Words: tips for finding more words
Last updated October 1, 2026
Honeycomb Words gives you seven letters and asks for words. It is relaxed and open: there is no clock to beat, no clue to know and no wrong answer that costs you anything. Here is how it works and how to find more words.
How a puzzle works
One letter sits in the middle of the honeycomb and six surround it. Make words of four letters or more that use only those seven letters and always include the middle one. You can use a letter as many times as you like. Tap the letters to spell the word, press Enter, and if it is in the word list it joins your found words. Every puzzle has at least one word that uses all seven letters; it is marked with a star.
Tip 1: begin with the endings
Look for the small word endings among your letters, such as ED, ER, ING or a plural S, and try them on short words you spot. One short word often gives you three or four longer ones.
Tip 2: use the Shuffle button
Words are hard to see when the letters sit in the same pattern for a long time. Press Shuffle to mix up the six outer letters. The middle letter never moves, and your found words stay where they are.
Tip 3: try the double letters
A letter can be used twice in a row, so words such as the double L or double E of an everyday word are fair. Try each letter doubled on the words you already know.
Tip 4: look for the star word
The word that uses every letter is usually a long, everyday word. Look for a familiar ending, then work backwards. You do not need it to finish, but it is a pleasure when you find it.
When you are stuck
Press Hint to add one everyday word you have not found yet. Hints only change the stars you earn, and you can use as many as you like.
