Large print Word Scramble, with nothing to type
A word scramble gives you a word with its letters shaken up and asks you to put them back in order. Here the letters are big buttons: you tap them in the order you want, and they drop into the answer boxes above. There is no keyboard to find and no dragging. If you change your mind, tap a letter in your answer and it goes back, and a Clear word button empties the whole answer.
The theme is your clue. Every word in a puzzle belongs to its theme, so a jumble in Comfort Foods is a food and a jumble in Geography is a place. When a word is right it turns green, shows a tick as well as the colour, and the puzzle moves to the next one. You can tap any word in the list and work in any order. The timer counts up, never down, and it can be hidden with Zen Mode.
Five themes, three levels
Choose from Nostalgia and Heritage, Nature and Gardening, Geography, Comfort Foods, or Mindful Wellness. Each theme has three levels, and Easy is the level that is free every day, in the Nostalgia and Heritage theme; members will be able to play every theme at every level. Easy has five words of four to six letters, and the first letter of each word is already filled in. Medium has six words of five to seven letters, and Hard has eight words of six to eight letters. We leave out any word whose letters can be rearranged into another word on our lists, so each scramble has one answer.
Hints, saving and streaks
If you are stuck, press Hint and the next right letter is placed for you. Hints are always your choice, and they only affect the stars you earn: three stars for none, two for one or two, and one for more. Your progress is saved on your own device after every word, so you can stop at any time and carry on later, and finishing a puzzle each day builds your streak. You can also print any puzzle, with its answers, from the menu on the puzzle page.
