About this set

Valentine’s Day is for friends and family as much as sweethearts, and these ten word searches keep it warm and light. You will find a ROSE and a LETTER with a STAMP, CUPID and his ARROW, SWEET CANDY and HONEY, a bunch of FLOWER petals and the kind words that go with them, such as DEAR, TENDER and FOND. Each page has an eight by eight grid and six words to find.

Everything is large and clear. The grid letters are 36 point, the word list is 24 point and each word has a box to tick. At the Easy level the words run only across or down, with nothing backwards and nothing diagonal, so each page is quick, calm and easy on the eyes. A pencil, a cup of tea and ten minutes are all you need.

The full PDF has the ten puzzles and then an Answers section with every hidden word shaded, along with a second puzzles-only file for sharing. The pages are a nice thing to tuck into a card for a friend, to do together with a grandchild or to set out for a Valentine’s social in the activity room. The list is our own, kept gentle, and the pages are free to print.

How to print these puzzles

Open the PDF (or save it) and choose Print. The pages are US Letter, 8.5 by 11 inches.
On A4 paper, or if a margin is cut off, choose “Fit to page” (or “Fit”). Otherwise choose “Actual size” or 100 percent, which keeps the type at its full large size.
Choose black and white or grayscale. The puzzles need no color, and it saves ink.
Print one page per sheet. “Multiple pages per sheet” makes the letters small again.
To print only the puzzles, print the puzzles-only file, or in the full file print just the pages before the section called Answers.
